Red Stag Reman Building

The Red Stag Timber Reman Building showcases timber innovation using glulam beams with 5000m2 of floor space, a 45-metre clear span and 110-metre length.

Peter Roil of Kanuka Engineered Wood Products and Garry Newton of Structural Concepts have collaborated to produce a feat of engineering to move glulam timber design into the future.

The early decision to use timber rather than steel bracing in the roof, ceiling and walls, and innovative truss design, allowed for efficient construction, less intrusive support columns and facilitated services and lighting. All truss components were precut and fabricated in the factory then assembled on the building floor before being lifted into place in three parts. Secondary trusses were incorporated for stability during the lift, and lateral stability of the completed roof structure.
From commencement of design to completion, the project took just 9 months.
