Located on the coastal cliff edge of Devonport, the Narrowneck House stretches across a uniquely slim site with gracious views of Rangitoto Island.
Working in collaboration with the client, the brief allowed for an extensive use of timber in the exterior and interior surfaces and finishes, which ensured that the concept to provide a home of warmth and permanency was beautifully realised.
Two dominant pitched roof forms float above the roadside garage and the main northeast facing living areas. These two forms are then knitted with a more lo-lying component that contains the ‘zigzag’ hallway and separate bedrooms.

In harmony with the exterior finishes, the real magic & zing takes place within the interior, which aimed to compliment the clients extensive collection of wooden sculptures and figures gathered from their experiences in South Africa and the Philippines.
