Project Description:
This is the new offices of the Taranaki Cancer Society and is located on the same premises where they have been operating for the past decade from an old single storey residential building. The brief called for a happy building. One that can help alleviate some of the trauma that some of their users come in with. A building which is cheerful and would allow itself to become their brand.
The exterior walls are timber frame/stained Cedar weatherboards, all interior ceilings are lined with clear finished Pinus Radiata plywood. This combination of cedar weatherboards and plywood ceilings helps to reinforce a warm and friendly feel to the building.
In addition the use of colour, vinyl, innovative graphics/signage and carefully chosen materials has enabled us to achieve a environmentally sustainable design solution which the clients and community have embraced with open arms.
Some of the major areas in which we have used the Go Green principles include; low energy fittings, rainwater capture, renewable under floor heating, solar hotwater heating, double glazing, solar shading.
