Hunto Hacienda is a private dwelling recently completed.  It is a four bedroom house with a total floor area of 430m² located in Waitakere, Auckland City.  It was designed by Diverse Design Consultants for the Hunt family, and was built by Dennis Wood Builders.

Hunto Hacienda was designed as a Spanish Style house, and was constructed using a combination of timber, concrete block with solid plaster, and with concrete roof tiles to achieve the required aesthetic.

The combination of solid concrete walls with natural exposed sawn macrocarpa was chosen to provide a rustic, Mediterranean feel.  Macrocarpa was chosen for a number of reasons, for it’s structural strength, the warmth of the golden brown honey colour for decorative purposes, for it’s natural resistance to insects, it’s low shrinkage factor, it is easily worked and has a beautiful scent.  The exposed rafters, beams, columns and sarking give the rooms a warm and intimate ambience.  Macrocarpa is an enduring, sustainable material
