Project Description:
The Gullwing, originally designed by Dave Strachan is Lockwood’s revolutionary new EcoSmart ® plan. It’s most recent build by Joseph Builders Ltd of Ashburton, in Omarama, was modified by Lockwood’s design team to create a contemporary home that responds to the local landscape, the climate and the client’s family lifestyle.
This north facing 320 m², four bedroom, 2 1/2 bathroom home boasts a heat gathering sunroom, a study, a snug media room and is built in the Lockwood 44mm EcoSmart ® construction system. Blonded Internal timber walls and elegant, sloping, sarked ceilings are complemented by polished concrete floors. The home is engineered using timber beams and columns, and is clad in Lockwood’s VG Pine weatherboard, resulting in a light, bright, airy and strong home.
Lockwood VG Weatherboard, comprises boards laid up, laminated, planed, and cut across the grain to present a radial or vertical grain face. The cladding works aesthetically with the richness and texture of the timber soffits, giving the senses a preview of what is to be found within. The beauty and warmth of timber enhances the visual appeal of the home, while providing a strong, warm and quiet environment to live in.
The Omarama Gullwing of the Robertson family gathers together 23 tonnes of wood to provide the family a carbon positive home for the next 13.2 years!
