Project Description:

The design is a response to a very steep and narrow site, overlooking Little Oneroa, on Waiheke Island.

With Manuka and Pohutukawa already present on the lower part of the site, the basic premise for the design was to build something resembling a tree-house, stepping gently down the slope and eventually nestling into the bush clad hill.

To achieve this goal, the building has been broken up into a series of building masses, linking elements, terraces and decks. Which have in turn been teased apart, skewed and arranged on various levels, to allow progression down the site and the landscaping to be intertwined into the building.

The result being a building that is just part of a continuing journey down the slope.
