Project Description:

Designed and constructed to be a place of rest, recovery and relaxation the Lodge embraces it’s prominent hill top position with striking beauty. The Western Red Cedar delivers on the design ambition to give warmth to the facility providing an added value character, having been best described as a ‘Home away from Home’ feeling.

The lodge is an accommodation facility designed by Chow:Hill Architects for the Waikato / Bay of Plenty division of the Cancer Society, on the existing Braemar Hospital site adjacent to Hamilton Lake.

The Lodge provides free accommodation and meals for people outside a 30 kilometer radius of Hamilton City while they undergo cancer treatment at Waikato Hospital.
The Lodge is not a treatment facility, it is a sanctuary where guests avoid the stress of finding accommodation and where they can embark their recovery process in a warm supportive environment.
