Project Description:
The client brief for this project was to renovate their existing house and create a new living area and space for guests to stay. Site constraints led to the creation of a hybrid space off the new kitchen, divided by a large cedar and opal glass cavity slider.
The hybrid space can be opened to the kitchen creating an additional living area or dining space. Or, it can be closed off to create a warm private room.
The clients enjoy the warmth of timber and wanted to benefit from the thermal mass performance of concrete. This inspired the use of warm meranti ply for interior claddings and kitchen joinery, polished concrete floors and a concrete block wall.
