Italian engineer Paolo Lavisci joins seminar series
Paolo Lavisci’s timber engineering consultancy, Legnopiù, was closely involved with the design of high-quality, permanent replacement accommodation for 20,000 people who lost their homes after the 2009 L’Aquila earthquake in Italy. He will be leading seminars on the advantages of timber construction in seismic regions in the NZ Wood national seminar series alongside architect Andrew Waugh and STIC.

All new or replacement buildings in New Zealand should make use of state-of-the-art seismic damage-resistant technology, according to structural engineer at Canterbury University, Assoc Prof Stefano Pampanin.

Massey University chooses timber innovation
Athfield Architects, Dunning Thornton Engineers and Arrow International have been engaged by Massey University to design and build a new teaching block for the College of Creative Arts (CoCA) on the Wellington campus, which utilises new post-tensioned seismic timber technology.
