Love our forests – Our economy does
Forestry is New Zealand’s third largest export earner. It has an annual gross income of around $5 billion, and growth is forecast to continue.
It is an industry that employs about 20,000 kiwis, which translates to significant downstream social and economic benefits for our communities.
Forestry is, without doubt, a critically important factor in New Zealand’s continuing economic well-being.
It is as well, then, that we learn to appreciate the very real value that forests bring – and will continue to bring – to our country and to our lives.
