The NZ Wood Resene Timber Design Awards 2017 Winners Announced!


NZ Wood are delighted to announce the Winners for the Resene Timber Design Awards 2017!

NZ Wood had strong support again this year with entries. The stand out this year was multiple entries by architects and designers.

Our Judges jobs were difficult, so the competition was tight with many missing out by only one point. Congratulations to the finalists and thank you to all that entered the awards, we hope you will be encouraged to enter again in the future.

This years' Awards feature 21st century technology from extensive use of LVL and CLT in homes to multi-storey commercial buildings, this year’s entries for the NZ Wood Resene Timber Design Awards showed modern applications of wood are providing cost effective solutions for asset owners. Winners were announced at a gala function in Auckland on March 9th.

Innovation of Student Design Award (New)

The Innovation of Student Design Award is a new category for the awards this year to encourage students to enter projects from their university work to gain recognition for their creative abilities.
The best three timber design projects by third year students are to be nominated by each academic program for architecture or engineering. The two finalist students will receive travel expenses to make short presentations at the Gala Dinner Awards in Auckland.

Judging Criteria: Three projects by third year students will be nominated by each academic program for architecture or engineering (Victoria, Auckland & Canterbury). The Timber Design Award Judges will select the final two winners.

The winning two students will receive $1000 prize money each.
