The transparent form of the assembly building embodies the democratic values of openness and transparency desired by the government.
A lightweight, gently undulating roof, clad on its underside with red cedar timber slats, covers both the external and internal spaces. The meeting chamber, a large circular space at the heart of the building, is defined by the dramatic roof form, which curves down from above to form the enclosure. The spacing between the timber slats provides a measure of acoustic control in the otherwise hard-surfaced interior.
