The use of angled glue-laminated beams to support the building’s roof and ceiling displays the strength and aesthetic merit of wood.
The arrangement of the elements allows both horizontal and gravity loads to be transferred to masonry walls that surround the space. All timber elements are joined at steel ‘nodes’, which emphasise and articulate the joints. The distinctive structural system exploits the colour and natural look of the glue-laminated beams, enhancing users’ experience within the building.
