This project respects its historic setting while recognising the civic significance of the new building.

Bordeaux Law Courts

The brief required complete separation between public and judicial spaces so the seven courtrooms were housed in flask-like containers under a large undulating roof. The containers are clad with cedar to create a contrast with the steel and glass structure of the main space. Perforated timber panels line the courtroom interiors providing excellent acoustic control.
