Wood use outdoors

The Outdoors

Wood can be used for a range of different outdoor features, from practical applications such as decks, retaining walls, sheds and fences to more decorative structures such as gazebos and pergolas.

Wood can create a feeling of tranquillity when used in the natural surrounds of a garden or outdoor area. There are a number of different species of wood that can be used for different features, and some of these will require treatment to aid their longevity.

Before starting on a building project you should check with your local authority that the proposed height, location and type of project complies with local planning building rules and whether any consents are required.
